Summer Lemon Tablescape
Last week I received the first of many emails from my children's school - marking the upcoming end of Summer and the beginning of what I am sure will be a great school year! But the end of Summer is always bittersweet for me - as my mermaid soul wishes Summer could last forever. I quickly reminded myself that there is still plenty of Summer to enjoy. So, I decided to celebrate Summer with an extra special family dinner complete with a fabulously DECKed table! And what better way to pay homage to Summer than with a lemon-inspired tablescape?
How cute is this basket? It was a Prime Day find and housed everything so perfectly for our outside soiree. It was love at first site when I came across this beautiful table runner and I was even more elated to find the matching napkins. The yellow and blue combo is a stunner and will instantly transport you to the Amalfi coast if I do say so myself. These lemon napkin rings were the perfect accent.
You may recognize these Blue Bamboo Melamine Plates from our 4th of July table. We've been using these all Summer and absolutely love them! (They also come in brown which I'm seriously considering adding to our collection.) The rattan wrapped glasses and rattan woven chargers have also become a Deck the Table staple! Love the texture and warmth they add.
I knew I wanted a centerpiece that makes a statement and make a statement it does! This gorgeous vase adds texture and height - paired with these lemon stems and my favorite white hydrangeas and you have a beautiful arrangement perfect for just about any table you wish to place it on. I tied a couple of the napkins around the neck of the vase like a scarf to tie in that beautiful pattern I mentioned earlier that I love so much.
To recreate this arrangement simply:
1. Begin by placing your lemon stems,
2. Next add hydrangeas at the base to create a border all the way around,
3. Lastly tie in your favorite pattern by folding the napkin like a scarf and tie around the next of the vase.
With our table DECKed & ready it was time to shift to the menu! I knew I wanted to incorporate our lemon theme as much as possible. We began with homemade lemonade. Full disclosure - this was my first time to make homemade lemonade and I was a little nervous because my husband loves Chick Fil A lemonade. I considered just picking some up, but then decided to give this recipe a try and I'm so glad I did. My husband said it tastes even better than Chick Fil A! Definitely add the sugared rim and lemon garnish for the full effect! lol
We kept the meal simple and lite with lemon-peppered chicken, this lemon arugula salad, and a pesto pasta. Our meal was finished off with Lemon Sherbert served in a fancy lemon shell. Use this recipe to make your own or you can have them shipped straight to your door here. (I'll let you guess which option I went with. lol) Nonetheless they were delicious and the perfect finish to our meal!
This was my first time to use lemons on our table, but it won't be the last! Our family loved our Summer Lemon Soirée. Any reason to gather together and make memories works for me! I hope this inspires you to create your own lemon-inspired table and gather with your loved ones to salute Summer.
Cheers to Summer and to all this and the next season have to bring!
